Been to B&Q!

Recommended Posts

Made a trip to B&Q today to get some plastic corrugated sheeting and some wood chippings and it looks sooo much better! and the girls love it too. They've been rooting around in it all afternoon.

I would recommend it to anyone with a mud problem! works a treat and really quite cheap :P .

Hi Tom,

Hope you are well!

do you have an Eglu or a wooden coop? how have you done your run it looks great?

I am having a bit of a nightmare at the moment, we have a wooden ark (that has caused me so many problems- swelling wood and mites, and damp inside) that I wish I had been a bit more paitent and saved up for an Eglu!!! :wall:

Anyway is done now and is our girls home,

we have just built a pen for the girls attached to the ark ( is a penthouse with a small run under the house) we built the pen with trellis and chicken wire.... does look a bit better than it sounds!!! lol,

but they keep escaping so now we are going to have to extend it up, also due to rain my poor Amber lee has had to have a bath!! so would need to attach a roof!

any advice on hoe this couls be done?

Many thanks

Well I have a wooden house that me and my dad built along with the 6x4 run. It all came under £150 and it looks top notch!

We've never had a problem with mites or the wood swelling as we treated the wood and I give the house a good covering of mite powder every time I clean them out.

Well our run is covered...half with cladding and the other half with plastic corrugated sheeting from B&Q for about £6 and it works a treat. The run is just pieces of 1inch x 2inch treated wood with the wire nailed on with a door on the side. I would cover the run with plastic sheeting or wood(Quite dark for the chooks!)

Hope it all works out.

I will try and find some pics of house and run together for you later.

Tom :P
