GreenGirl
this might sound an obvious question, sorry! I was watching the girls earlier (to make a change) and saw Cressida standing stock still, with Angelina, who is half her size pulling at the feathers under Cressida's neck. I thought for a minute the tables had turned, as Cressida is the bully in the group, although Angelina can really stand up for herself given her size. Cressida seemed to be enjoying the attention, eyes half shut and you almost hear her saying 'ahhh', and the pulling was quite gentle, I couldnt see any coming out really. Is this Angelina preening her? Or would she have seen mites or something on her? Thanks!
The Dogmother
They do sometimes preen each other, and just like primates, it's a display of the social order. Enjoy watchign them, but it's best to make sure that they aren't pulling feathers and that they don't have mites.
Faye&Ant
3 of my girls preen the top girl, its very funny to watch especially as she stands dead still as if afraid to move but the other girls are so gentle with her I echo the above, just be careful its not a case of feather pecking!!!
