update from kansas. . .

Recommended Posts

I haven't come to the site for awhile. . .so thought I would let everyone know that we are doing well in Kansas. I have attached a clip of Rosemary laying her egg today. You get a brief glimpse of Clarisse.

If you remember I had a little silkie chicken named Edith that the other two NEVER accepted. It got to the point where I kept Edith in a big dog carrier inside most of the time and she was living a pretty solitary life except for when she watched TV with me.

Well, I searched for a new home for her. . .and found a family that only keeps silkies. I just got an update and she has happily moved into their flock. She was eating with them, roosted with them. . .and finally has some chicken friends.

It was sad to see her go. . .but I'm so glad that she is happy. Rosemary and Clarisse are never apart, and so I know it's in their nature to be with other chickens. . .I just couldn't stand for Edith to be alone any longer.

It was tough though. . .I loved that little chicken.

Hi there and welcome back. Looks like it was a lovely sunny day over there, your Rosemary looked rather tight-beaked at being "observed"! I could almost hear her muttering, "I don't mind you having a quick peek, but filming me is going to cost you a heck of a lot of corn mister!"

Cute dawgs too, especially the fluffy or shaggy looking cutie.

 Great video John, love the way she lets you ruffle her hair while she's sat there. Also loved the video of broody Edith - trying to dustbath on the rug while Sax ate her corn. Sooo funny, what a shame you had to rehome her, but so pleased she is happy - lovely little hen! :D
