hi i totally forgot about this but i (dad) was driving down to klinhurst in mexeborough(sp?) and next to the moter way was 4 massive big chicken sheds (for meat) and i fealt awful just how these poor little thing shave no life so ive convinced my whole family to go free-ranged meat(we already had free-ranged eggs) whoooooo i know its more expensive but an extra 5 pound means a life realy doesnt it ohh and sainsbury's are doing freedom food pork for only 14p more than the normal pork chops well the pork is raised outside until 4 weeks then they go into massive barns with straw on the floor with natural light

Well done, I think keeping chickens makes us all more aware of the conditions our food is raised in.

its a horrible place isnt it knowing you may be eating poor animals from a horrible dirty shed its evil

Ah ha! Is that what they mean when they say "outdoor bred" on sausages etc? I was trying to find some free-range sausages (well, sausages from free-range pigs I mean, not little sausages running around outside) in the supermarket the other day but they only had "outdoor bred" ones. I didn't buy them because I suspected that it meant they went into barns after being born and I wasn't sure what the conditions would be like there.

For something to be labelled "Organic", the animal has to be allowed outside. In fact, the organic conditions are better than free range as they have more room. Sooooooooo expensive though

Good lad Aaron! Intensive farming is horrid, you are quite right. Free range meat tastes much better, and feels better on the conscience too.
