Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

One of my pekins has lost quite alot of feathers around her neck in the last two days, does this mean she's moulting. None of our others have moulted before so I'm not sure what to look for! Can hens moult at any time of the year?

I've heard that they tend to moult now which is the oddest thing as it gets colder

I had a shock a couple of days ago, Monique the maran bantam came out of the Eglu looking like her head had been plucked bald, on closer inspection she has loads of hedgehog spikes of new feathers and the old feathers must have been pushed out overnight. She looks rather silly!

My ginger nut Hilda moulted this time last year and I felt so sorry for her!

 

My youngest has lost a patch by her bottom... I am wondering if this is the start of it with her or if it's something else?

Moulting round necks and in the knicker area is very typical.

Several of mine (including three pekins) are moulting around the neck, tail and bloomers areas. They look like no-one owns them at the moment. I am feeding extra live mealworms and tuna at the moment. Hubby caught me feeding the cochins trout and laughed at me. They did enjoy it though.
