Roast turkey anyone?

Recommended Posts

We were given a partially defrosted 5.3kg free-range turkey yesterday by a bachelor friend of ours. He was running his freezer down in preparation for getting a new one and offered us this turkey, my OH asked him how big it was and he went to check the tag tied to it and then left the freezer door open. He discovered this yesterday morning and dropped it over to us for imediate eating so it has finished defrosting overnight and this morning.

It looks like a really good turkey it had been in his freezer since January when he bought it from his butcher who had frozen it as an unsold Christmas one.

I am not sure about turkey and all the trimmings on a Thursday evening in November but it does smell good :D

I have just been to our allotment and picked the first of the sprouts to go with it, Merry November 6th everyone

We will still have turkey on the big day, probably a Waitrose freerange bronze because we won't be at home on the day that Kelly's are delivering this year :(

This was a good turkey considering that it had been frozen for 10 months and I have a rotten cold I could still taste it :D and everyone else said it was lovely and the giblet gravy was really good too. :D

There was a bizarre moment at 4.15pm yesterday when my older two children came home to find my YD eating breakfast - a small bowl of porridge because that was what she fancied as her after school snack- she only normally eats cereal at weekends and has a boiled egg for breakfast - and me cooking Christmas dinner
