wundamutt
Hi, I'm very pleased to say that after a slow start for some, all three of our girls are now laying. We've come to use some of our eggs this evening and have noticed that the whites are quite yellowy. Is this normal? Thanks for any info. Redwing
Mine are too, they are a sort of translucent yellow and sometimes tinged with green but because they are not what I have been used to I assumed it was quite normal. They are very tasty - much better than shop ones so I haven't been too worried I hope no one says its a problem!
Ain't Nobody Here
I've not come across that before (but that doesn't mean it's a problem ). A quick Google came up with this: Q: WHY IS AN EGG WHITE SOMETIMES CLOUDY OR HAS A YELLOW OR GREENISH CAST TO IT? A: Cloudiness of raw white is due to the presence of carbon dioxide which has not had time to escape through the shell and is an indication of a very fresh egg. A slight yellow or greenish cast in raw white may indicate the presence of riboflavin. So it doesn't sound like it's anything to worry about . wundamutt
Ok, that's cool. The eggs tasted fine and the fact that we're still here this morning lead us to think that it couldn't be too bad, but thanks very much for finding that out for us.
