Chickaboo
Phoebe is going through a big moult at the moment, and is ok but a bit off colour. I picked her up yesterday and thought she looked a bit orange round the eyes and beak She is a , but I had never noticed this before. All I can think is that she has been eating a lot of corn and butternut squash lately - could this have done it? My worry is that it could be jaundice, can this happen to chickens? Egluntyne
When they moult and stop laying, the pigments build up again, especially in their legs...maybe this is what you are observing.

alih
is her vent orange too? My chicken was poorly and the vet showed me how yellow/ orange her vent was- a sign of liver failure apparently - not to scare you, as if she seems perky she must be well.... let us know how she gets on?
