Cyber Chook
I've been thinking about how to make cleaning the Cube easier. It's at the bottom of a muddy garden, but I could use a long lead extension. Has anyone tried a steam cleaner? I've spent ages looking on the internet and some people rave about theirs, and others have found them a waste of time, with hot water dripping from handles, or simply that they just don't work well enough to justify the outlay. If anyone's got a steam cleaner that they'd recommend I'd love to hear about it, what make it is, roughly the cost etc. Either hand-held or compact, but preferably not a combined vacuum cleaner/steam cleaner. I bought a Vax -081 steam cleaner recently (£50), but took it back before trying it, as it was pretty heavy even without the water in it. However, I'd be prepared to use a heavier machine if I knew that it was worth the effort and expense. Thanks Caroline
cordelia
A guy at work has a Polti steam cleaner he swears by (although its probably his wife who uses it oops !!) But he said dont use it on the carpet, as it ruins it (the heat causes the carpet to felt) I brought a tiny cheap steam cleaner from Asda, and had to take it back, as it wouldnt produce any steam... I have a steam mop which is excellent...as we have a dog, who brings in masses of mud...
Olly
There was a long discussion about this in the Nesting Box, see here - this resulted in a run on Domotec steam cleaners! The 'Omlet effect' - I still wonder if John Lewis sales managers were scratching their heads wondering why their stock kept running out. I've never tried another type, so can't make comparisons, but I'm very happy with mine, in fact I must clean the oven again soon. I used mine on my Eglus before I sold them, and it does help to get the grime out of the corners.
