wombatally
I need to reseed the lawn as the lasses have destroyed it. I'm looking for something tougher than ordinary grass and wondered if I can sow meadow type seed with wildflowers in it - any suggestions? Also, how long will it take to grow?! Redwing
You need to let the flower meadow lawn grow quite long to get lots of flowers - if I remember correctly you only cut it once a year after it has self seeded so if you are looking for a traditional lawn a good family grass seed may be a better bet, grass seed described as 'family seed' has tougher grasses in it. If you wanted the wildflower look you could always use that sort of seed around the edges letting the outer side grow long and mow roughly up to it for a natural look. Wild flower lawns are great for wildlife

Wrong time of year really - but a robust "family lawn" box of seed will probably be the best! That's of couse if you can stop the madams from eating it!!! Mutrix Farmers
My lawn can't keep up with the girls. I have a patch I need to reseed but I suspect turf might be quicker!
kez
I also need to reseed my lawn. I have had the girls about 6 weeks and with my small garden, now have no lawn at all. To begin with they were great, got rid of all the weeds and moss. Then they started on the grass
beach chick
we tried a meadow once... I have to say, big mistake. it looked fantastic for 3 weeks, with wild flowers and paths mowed through it randomly. then it turned into a wild wild mass of grasses about 4' tall. took 4 men 3 days to cut and clear!! never again, we mow it now. Patricia7455
Have you seen this website? I thought it looked interesting and saved it in my favourites in case I needed to re-seed. Might try a bit on a rough area we have by the side of the house. http://www.meadowmania.co.uk/default.cfm/loadlevel.3/loadindex.
