pistachio
Has anyone else heard of a Cockerel killing a fox? My son and his friend were talking chickens and his friend's cockerel had been found dead in between a dead fox and the hens. It seems that the cockerel took the life of the fox but gave his own, defending the hens. He was buried in high honour of course.
Minnie the Moocher
Wow. I wonder if that can be true? Cockerels can be pretty aggressive if push turns to shove.
pistachio
apparently they both died a little apart from each other from wounds. I did wonder if it was bravado - but it didn't sound it. They renamed him Braveheart before burying him.

Reikiranf
Wow, it wouldn't surprise me if that is true, what a hero. Cockerels are true gentleman, my friend's brother heard a lot of squawking and ran down the garden just in time to see a fox grab his cockerel who was standing between the fox and the coop. Not a single hen was to be seen and when Rob checked they were all in the coop so he could only assume that the cockerel had herded all his ladies into the coop and was trying to protect them before the fox got him. Rob got his gun and sat in a tree waiting patiently for the fox to return, three hours later he did and Rob got his revenge.

CockADoodleDoo
yeh i wouldnt be surpirsed if this is true. it happend to my friends cockeral aswell. a fox got into his seperation pen where he had a cock and 3 hens. he found them one morning, the hens were fine, but the cock and the fox were lying dead in the run, the fox had a hole in the side of its neck probably caused by the cockerals tallons. all i could think was (what a great cockeral)
