Train Station - Nottingham University?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me, someone normally knows the answer to a question!

I've booked to go on the Vet-Medlink conference at Nottingham University in December along with a few of my friends. We thought it would be best to go up on the train, but aren't sure where to go! :?

I've had a look on the website and can't see anything. All I've managed to find is that the taxi should cost about £5 from the station to the Uni.

So...

Does anyone know which train station I need to go to, to get to Nottingham University. We're catching the train at Birmingham New Street.

Thanks in advance.

Lewis :D

Hey - double check if it is on the 'Sutton Bonnington' campus of the Nottingham University. That is usually where the vet stuff is. If it is it may be cheaper to get off the train at Loughborough then get a taxi from there as Sutton Bonnington is MUCH closer to Loughborough than Nottingham station. I'm sure there is a bus from Loughborough train station to Sutton Bonnington though. I'll get my OH to look for you in the morning. His dad has a memorial bench & Oak tree planted at Sut Bon campus 8)

If it's at the main campus you could either get the train to Nottingham or to Beeston. I think the campus is slightly nearer to Beeston but unless you can get a direct train you might as well just go to Nottingham (it's certainly not worth changing at Nottingham to get a local train to Beeston).

Hope this helps

You definitely want to go to Nottingham station, then you can either get a bus or taxi to the campus (I went to university in Nottingham).

Hope that helps. :D

edited to add - you could go to Beeston as it's not much further but I'd go to Nottingham station. They have been talking about extending the tram line to Nottingham University for years now but as yet they still can't seem to make their mind up about it.

i have just seen this thread and i live just a stones throw away from the university.

the nearest station is actually BEESTON station. and should cost a few pounds by taxi

nottingham station has much better bus services to the university, you can get the number 36 that takes you right to the university. the number 31 goes to the jubilee campus, but only in term time, so you would need to check all are run by nottingham city transport, and can be got from the city center.

if you need any help just pm me

Hi.

I've just found this thread.

I did go in December, and it was a really good few days.

The train was from New Street to Nottingham, and it cost us £7.50 return, which was a bargain! :D

We then got in a taxi from the station to campus, which was about £7.

Thanks for the help.
