henny penny
Hi Recently bought a few preserving jars from Ikea. I have just made some pickled onions but the seals seem to be leaking. Any one else have this problem?
Guest
yep! I posted about this some time ago and it was suggested I get some of those orange seals. I ordered some from Nisbits and I left the Ikea one on and put the orange one as well and it was then water tight I'll pop and get you the link, hold on
Christian
Yep, they are really bad seals. If you buy the orange Le Parfait seals, they work perfectly.

Guest
I added the orange seals and they were still leaky! In the end I bought more jars - this time from Lakeland.

In the end I bought more jars - this time from Lakeland. did you leave the Ikea seals on as well though? I left the clear Ikea seal on and put the orange on top of it. I could even turn the jar upside down and it was fine.
Guest
Yep both seals and all jars still leak. Hopeless for preserving but OK for storage I guess.
The Dogmother
The seals on the IKEA jars are absolute pants, so I always replace them with new orange seals from Lakeland. The IKEA jars are so cheap that it's still cheaper to do that than buy jars elsewhere.
