Janey4
Got my girls in mid Aug and they have come on a treat since then! From being scared, scraggy little hens they have turned into the cheekiest little monkies going! Feathers growing back really well, only the poorest hen Mary-Kate is still a bit bald on her back but what she lacks in feathers she makes up for in attitude and has well and truly put my giddy Golden Retriver in his place with a few pecs on the nose!! The 'bickering' between Naomi Campbell and Ruby has sorted itself out and they are living in harmony (well most of the time!! ) They are free ranging most days now and are loving every second of it -these are my first hens and boy, they cant half dig!!! The compost heap has been flattened (well almost)!! Their long claws and twisted beaks have sorted themselves out and their eyes look bright and combs nice and red, instead of the pale pink ones they came with -which I did find quite shocking. I cant believe the poor little chicks that came to me, have learnt to be hens again and are enjoying life (and hot mash for brekkie now the weather has gone a bit nippy) and lots of treats and cuddles! I absolutely *LOVE* them to bits and 3/4 eggs a day are just a bonus!
