Mutrix Farmers
I've been attacked!! There I was just stood in the run minding my own business watching Henry scratching while Charlotte stood on my foot when - ouch! - Katie pecked the fleshy bit of my leg just above the knee!!! I'm now sporting a bruise, and she pecked me through jeans!!!! Well that was Saturday. Then on Sunday I was taking a dish of rice out to them as a treat and she decided she was going to fly up at me before I could put it down. I dropped the bowl (heavy earthenware), almost on Henry's head. I showed her who was boss though, I shooed her back into the eglu run and she had to watch the other two eat most of the rice!! I'm chief chicken not her!!! (And it's now Monday and I still have a mark on my leg!!)
Egluntyne
Oh dear! Make her submit to you by placing your hand on her back so that she squatts. She might remember her manners then.
Snowy
I had one who got too big for her boots - Mrs Greedyguts Roley Mo I had to put her in her place a couple of times, she has a bit more respect now!
cordelia
thanks for that advice..I've had two pecks from Agatha, and Daphne comes at me a little too and to be honest I'm a little scared of them sometimes... I'll try the hand thing... I once had the broom to stop them getting me (I didnt use it against my girls..and I never would..it was for defense)..it was just I'd rather they got that (the broom) than me...as it was, it made Agatha worse, and I had to run for the house the joys of being a chicken mum... I'm pleased I saw this thread as I hardly liked to admit they'd scared me LOL edited for terrible spellings..perhaps I should put the light on.. Mutrix Farmers
I must persist with the hand thing, I sort of gave up because she clearly didn't like being stroked or petted. And she tends to run away as soon as she sees me start to bend down to make contact. Having said that I always stroke all three when in the nest box last thing at night. I like to do a head count and wish them goodnight.
