Guest
I bought one of these for the banties to perch on. DH is going to stain it the same colour as the run and screw it to one of the wooden cross pieces on the run panels. Hope they appreciate it The plan also is to get a small table (possibly from freecycle) strip it back and stain it to make a mezzanine level for them too. Still waiting for a response from Freecycle though. Will have to try the charity shops too. Edited December 16, 2008 by Guest

Guest
Ian has spent the day cleaning the girls out and making the mezzanine for the banties. They're being very naughty girls and plucking Bea's feathers! Nothing nasty but Bea is beginning to get a bald neck so something had to be done. The daft girl lets them do it! They've got a seed bell hanging up on that blue string and now they have somewhere to play on and Ian will be fixing that other perch to the wood of the mesh panel just above the table. I don't want to use ukadex unless it's absolutely necessary because of the smell. Ian said, worst comes to worst, we'll have to buy an eglu for the bantams We've got some seed sticks to hang on the mesh so Bea isn't left out. They've been free ranging most of the day with the big girls so hopefully they're tired out for today The last photo makes me laugh as Bea is looking up as if to say "keep the noise down up there!" Bantam taking a nose dive!

Guest
Ian's had time now to sort out a makeshift ladder for them to get up there, it all needs to be stained the same colour as the run but we're waiting for warmer weather to do that. He's put mealworms on each rung to encourage them to go up there, you can see how far up they've ventured so far! http://www.liverpoolpoet.talktalk.net/010209.1.jpg http://www.liverpoolpoet.talktalk.net/010209.2.jpg
