beach chick
I dont know what's come over my lot, this morning they had 4 mug fulls of pellets. just went out to check them before school run, and it has ALL disappeared! I dont think its wild birds, because the girls are pretty territorial, so I assume they've scoffed it. its not even that cold here today, so its not as if they need extra fuel, and only 3 have laid today so god knows where they've put it all... anyway, I'm going to give them double tomorrow morning and see how that goes. anyone else's eating like horses at the moment? stoice
Might want to check for tunnels or holes that go in their run. The girls food had been going down quicker than normal until i discovered we had rats.
Egluntyne
I would try them with more. TBH 4 mugs full of pellets between 8 hens ( have I misunderstood your signature?) doesn't seem enough. I'd fill their grubs to the top and see how they get on. If you are worried about rats, you can bring it it overnight. I have 13 Hens in my walk in run and they eat a B&Q bucket full to the brim with pellets every 3rd day....from a treadle operated rat resistant feeder so I am pretty sure that it is just them that are eating the pellets. Daphne
well rather strangely all of mine had eaten everything in sight today as well and I'm not that far away from you. I give the 9 of them around 5 mugfuls a day - but its not usually all eaten. Anyway, I thought it might be because I didn't give them any wheat - it not being very cold. beach chick
I dont think we've got rats, got no sign of them... no tunnels under the electric fence or anything. I will give them more tomorrow and see how we go - I've stopped mash for the moment, because it's so much warmer, but until now they've never eaten ALL their pellets!
