Pekin bantams...

It depends really on what you're comparing it with; the two pekins I have at the moment are roughly the same age, but have very different sized combs. At this time of the year, they stop laying and their combs shrink and go pale anyway.

 

I wouldn't worry too much - I have 3 newish girls (pure breeds), who I bought in September - they are all around 28 weeks and I don't expect them to start laying until the spring.

They may be tiny, but you would be surprised how they can hold their own with the big girls - really fiesty wee things. My Tallulah will hover a few inches off the ground and fly straight at any of the big chooks if they even think of giving her stick - it is hilarious. She is also good at getting out of the way if there is squabbling between the larger birds. Hey, she even is friends with turkeys! Good luck with yours - we would love more pekins one day!
