Valkyrie
It started off with half an hour of Cheyenne whizzing around - we thought she was after the blue tits that were investigating a nesting box. She kept running in the cube and out again, doing laps around the cube and run. Checking out behind the dust bath (out shot a wren). Then no sign of her at all. OH went to look and found her in the cube in the nesting box. Could it be??? 5 minutes later one enormous egg - 2 ounces! It is bigger than the other girls - must have been a big ouch for a first timer. So at last she has made it. She got lots of mealworms as a treat - and instead of her running off, I actually stroked her - and then she ran off! Happy New Year everyone and congrats to all other newbie layers mums. Valkyrie
Thankies all. Apache laid one later on and it is dwarfed by Cheyennes one! First time we've had 2 eggs on the same day for weeks making a grand total of 84 since they started. We are well impressed with the girls - being breeds we didn't expect as many as that! OH never liked eggs - but he loves his omlettes now - you should have heard him complaining when the girls production slowed down!
