esta Posted January 11, 2009 Share Posted January 11, 2009 Hey, everyone. Seems ages since I have been on but I have recently invested in some chickens...well actually alot! But in the few months that I started getting more of them there was 10 chickens that were offered to us. We couldn't refuse and we have a massive pen so it was fine and there was lots of space in the coop. After that we collected 9 battery hens and they soon settled in. We got them a new coop and everything. However, a few months after everyone had met and made friends the white chicken( now named keith) jumped on a battery hen and well you know ! So I am convinced its a cockeral, it doesn't crow but it is between 5-8 months old, it has long pale legs but no horns yet, makes a honking noise and long thin feathers covering its back. So is it a boystrous hen and a cockeral Please could you give me your views or anything that you know about young cockerals eg when they crow etc thankyoou Esta x Ps please could you filll in my poll Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
