kategreensted
Can anyone clarify if carrots are classed as wet food or not? My 9 week old bunnies have tried some carrots and they LOVED it, but now am worried that they may be too young to stomach this. Should I leave off any food apart from pellets and hay til they are older?
Naaila
Hi there I would suggest not feeding too many carrots but perhaps only give this to them once a week or once every two weeks. It is important that they do not eat too many carrots, as they are quite sweet and can rot the rabbits teeth - this is why they should only be given as a treat. I would also suggest you feed them junior rabbit pellets until they are 16 weeks old and then start mixing this food with adult rabbit pellets or rabbit mix (muesli). Make sure to introduce new foods gradually to avoid diaorrhea. I dont think carrots classify as too much of a wet food - more like lettuce and cucumbers - wet greens are bad in big doses!
