jackiepoppies
Hi mad house, IMHO poison is the only answer....and you can always find ways that cats, chooks etc can't get at it. Just remember, they say for every one you know about........there are another 10! Jackiex
Guest
We have had a rat or two living in our shed. Council rat man is dealing with it - poison is down and he is returning every week to check how things are going. We got a discount cos Mum is an OAP (not many things that gets you a discount for!) and it's cost us....the princely sum of.....TWENTY QUID!!! We leave our cube doors open every night - and have been doing so for the last year. The rat has been evident in the shed which is in the middle of our run. Just checked he's been today and they have taken more bait from the tunnel into the run, there has been more digging evidence in the shed (I noticed that!) but they have taken more bait from in there. He will keep coming until they stop taking bait. Edited January 23, 2009 by Guest
Egluntyne
I agree. I have had the most awful trouble with a very persistent rat who had been able to remove food from traps so sensitive that they snap shut if you so much as glance at them. I rebaited my bait boxes recently, and fingers crossed, there hasn't been any evidence of digging for a day or two. Charlottechicken
Agreed, poison is the best route. I have had to use it in the past as I am surrounded by takeaways who leave their bins uncovered and stockpile rubbish You have to remove anything which may be of interest to the rats, like animal food or a nice warm compost heap or woodpile, block up any entrance holes in fences etc. My Eglu is elevated, and in a walk in run, as a precaution. Good luck!
