my girls love their cube.

Recommended Posts

When I had a wooden coup my RIP girls would never go in it during the day, even when they first arrived.

The run is covered so it's dry so they can stay outside. I've noticed that my new girls are in and out of all the cube all the time. They seem to happily sit in there with one another (although Dora isn't in there so maybe they would come out if she went in). They perch on the bars and even though the nest box is full of straw they remain on the bars.

The wooden coup couldn't have had the same appeal and I must admit when I look inside my purple baby It doesn't have that damp cold look to it.

Edited to say that as soon as i tied a net full of savoy cabbage leaves to the top of the run the cube was emptied in seconds

Lovely i can't wait to try mine out :D

what net bag do you use to put your veg in?

don't laugh - I went and got a net of oranges from Morrisons just to get the net.I then roughly cut some larger holes in the net and stuffed it full of cabbage leaves.

I wouldn't say that they've gone mad over it but they have all been pecking it at some point since I hung it up. So it should keep them interested for a while.

Joshua (8) hung up two cd's which they are starting to peck, he got into the run and sat with them a while then started to hang them and the chickens suddenly became really nosey rather than running away.

I've been keeping an eye on their house keeping but haven't done any housework in my own house
