Shelley Cockell
I've noticed that Patsy has a pale comb and kept waggling her tail, so I thought I would check her over for lice etc. Looking at her tail there is what I can only guess is a louse. It creamy coloured and is sticking about half a cm out from the skin. I have ordered some diatomaceous earth from omlet but wondered if I can pick it off? I remember wehn I was a kid my Dad using a extinguished match head to remove a tick from our dog. Do you think I can do the same?
Ain't Nobody Here
When Molly had lice (quite a few ) I ended up snipping off the feathers (with help from ES). I don't think I could have pulled them off - they're like concrete . If I were you I would have a go at pulling or cutting it off (especially if it's only one). The Dogmother
That sounds like a nit (louse egg) rather than a louse - see the FAQ section for guidelines on treating lice.
Ain't Nobody Here
You're right, Claret, sorry! I was picking/cutting off the eggs not the beastie .
The Dogmother
I'd love to see anyone catch a louse!
