Evening Everyone,

I'm looking for other peoples experiences with Eglu Flooring. Our chickens have gone on garden paving and initially we used wood chips which work well in the summer but seem to turn to mush when the weather turns soggy. We have since tried straw which also turns soggy but is easier to change / clear out and it gives them a little more to scratch around.

However, the recent onslaught of bad weather has meant the straw has turned to mush much more quickly than usualy and i cannot help but feel sorry for the chickens having to wait till the weekend for me to be able to clean them out.

Has anyone used any different materials that work well that their chickens like and don't get so soggy (as quickly at least).

Any and all suggestions welcome

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt, welcome to the forum :) .

I've used Hemcore in the past but after the price increased suddently, I changed to Easibed. Both are brilliant - very absorbant, pleasant smelling and long lasting. The chickens love scratching about in them too. I use about half a bale every 6-8 weeks. A bale costs somewhere in the region of £7-8.

Hope that helps!
