4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi

 

We got three new chickens on Saturday from Omlet. They are sleeping fine with the original three, but in the daytime they need protecting!

 

One of them likes to make a hole in the bark and then sit down in this puffing her feathers out. Never seen this before. Is it something to worry about?

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum .

 

Sounds to me like she's either nesting or dustbathing . If she's writhing about and chucking dust & twigs all over herself, she's dustbathing. If she's just sitting all puffed up, she may be getting broody. Is she laying yet? If not, it's probably dustbathing.
