Aubiose - how long does it last

Recommended Posts

After reading so much positive info about this stuff from some of you I picked some up today at the feed merchants.

They put it straight into the boot of the car for me so it wasn't until I oped the boot when I got home that I realised how much was there was 20kg and tightly packed  Now I understand why so many of you refered to the bag lasting ages.

I have a cube and planned to put it in the nesting box and in the pop drawers. With 6 ladies how long is it likely to last. Does everyone put it in the pop drawers, so far I've been using newspaper with shredded paper on top.

depends on weather conditions to be honest.

If you have a well roofed/well covered run it will last longer.

Summer it will last several weeks (3-6 weeks at our house)

Winter - depends on if its raining, if its wet then ours gets changed every 2-3 weeks but during a dry spell will last a month.

I poo pick daily which helps make it last longer also, especially in the heat of the summer as it can attract flies/get whiffy.

I'll only be using it in the cub so maybe it will last 4 months.

I can't believe I haven't got it before. £8.50 seems expensive at first but I was determined to try it. However if it lasts 4 months then that's £2.12 a month nearing 6 months it's only £1.42 so fantastic value, makes for less work and the cube smells fresher.

So thanks  to this forum, if I hadn't of got the cube I wouldn't have joined the forum and wouldn't have found out about aubiose.

just out of interest do you have a concrete or soil floor that you put the aubiose onto? do you just rake it up?

and what do you do when it comes to cleaning the eglu/cube do you have to move all that out the way of the run so that it doesnt soak it?

having problems not turning my garden into a bog as we are on clay soil. ive even stopped using the jet washer now and reverted to bucket and scrubbing brush. Lawn is wrecked DH going mad. So now thinking about putting the cube and run somewhere more permanent. we have some hardcore already down with some loose pavers on the top we use for the rabbit runs. But now thinking we could house the chooks and ducks on there in their eglu and cube then put something down on the floor aubiose? straw maybe?

any suggestions i would be grateful
