Thats ok it just proved i needed to add this picture too to show the full extent.

Its taken me hours to draw all this in and no where near finished yet.

I had to build the cube from scratch in the program.

Funny, I was just about to say that  . It really is a fantastic sized garden 8) . Mine's the size of a pocket handkerchief so won't take long to GoogleSketch  . (I've downloaded it already and have a few lines drawn - not sure what of though  . See, I'm just as sad as you  .)

....i am a bit obsessed with collecting rainwater, its my bit for the planet...
Whey hey, a fellow rain-water collector . I'm the same, every shed, greenhouse and any other sloping surface I can find has a gutter attached to it (even the kids playhouse!!)! We've got water-buts all over the place, I've even got one in the veg patch with no gutter attached, but which we pump water to from the butts nearer the house using a submersible pump OH found on-line somewhere (seen them in Wickes since).

Once my new run is up that is having guttering too, and will feed yet another water-butt which will be installed for the purpose. It's a big roof area (15ft x 6ft), so I'd like the overflow from that to go to the existing stand-alone butt if I can manage it.

Why so obsessed, well our soil is very sandy (we've got an old gravel pit at the end of the garden), so rainwater just disappears so quickly that we have to water the vegetables all summer, even in wet years. We've had hosepipe bans in previous years, so have adopted an almost war-time policy of collecting and storing all the water we can :anxious:.

water%20butt%20july%2007%20thumb.jpg

add to that we have 3 x 200l ones on the back of the greenhouse and another 200l one on the garage........and i still want more

We dont have your dry soil problem in fact ours is the opposite...clay.

i just got to the point where i felt it was wrong spraying clean water on the veggies.

But we all have to do our bit dont we.....hehe

you' ve been busy Andrew! :)
Just to update you all, my WIR arrived yesterday as promised and we've spent the moring constructing it. Still a bit more to do, but both my electric drills/screwdrivers now need a re-charge, so we've stopped for the day. Progress so far can be seen here. Should have it all done by tommorrow, and the girls can then move in.
