SeramaSilly
We bought a brown turkey fig tree about three years ago and this year the fruits have actually ripened! We've been really looking forward to them as we both love dried figs but I'm afraid we both think they are absolutely disgusting fresh and cooked and even the smell puts me off! Does anyone know how to dry figs? Sophie x
The Dogmother
I'd suggest just washing them and baking them on a low heat on a baking tray. I love figs, and make a type of crostini with figs, ham and cheese on toasted ciabatta - YUM!
SeramaSilly
That's the italian in you Clare! Sophie x
The Dogmother
It's yummy Sophie and easy to make too. I went on a pash for it and made loads; ate so much that I couldn't even think about it for months
SeramaSilly
I'm like that with plum crumbles this time of year Clare - two trees in the garden! We were having crumble so much last year that I was getting heartburn! Sophie x
SeramaSilly
I'm a veggie Clare - so don't eat ham - but sounds like it would be nice without - as long as the figs dry ok! Sophie x
The Dogmother
You need to put it in the oven or grill it gently, so they are juicy and runny.
