Chillicat
Went out to feed and cuddle the chooks this afternoon and noticed that one of our girls has had a bit of an ear bashing. Some of her feathers around her left earlobe look like they've been torn from her. She's a bit flighty so it could be semi self-inflicted in a panic but will check it out tomorrow................could I find my purple spray when I needed it? NO! Why does this happen? I have a special draw containing all my girls medicines, tonics and treats in the garage but the treatment I needed wasn't there Hope she's ok tomorrow. Does anyone have experience of torn earslobes? likeastar--x
When we put the banties in with the big girls we found that the earlobes was the target of choice. Nearly all the chooks have small, red scars from where theyve been bitten there. I think that they go for the face anyway and they peck the skin to inlflict enough damage to make their point, but not to seriously injure them (e.g. in the eye) That might be why the feathers around her earlobe have been pulled out aswell.
