Poached Posted February 18, 2009 Share Posted February 18, 2009 hi i hope i can get a quick reply one of my hens has gone broody on 10 eggs i have managed to get 8 of them but i have an old rabbit hutch that i can move her into because every time another hen goes in to the nest box she will attack it and get it round the face please help i have never had a broody hen before please help!!!!!!!!!!!! josh Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Purplemaniacs Posted February 20, 2009 Share Posted February 20, 2009 The first time one of ours went broody I was a bit soft and it went on for ages, the next time having read the advice on here, I was tougher and used the broody cage, it definitely works although I felt bad Will use it again if one goes broody. Stevie Posted February 22, 2009 Share Posted February 22, 2009 Yep-broody crate does the trick after a good few days of solitary confinement,but i also have had to dunk mine into a bucket of cold water several times a day to lower her temperature (their body temp goes up when broody).
