Amy Walpole
Hello everyone! Finally got my girls yesterday, but they are being a bit daft! They go to bed, but they lay on the floor rather than roosting on the perches. I pick them up and pop them onto the bars, where they stay, but is there a way to get them to do this by themselves? Is it just a matter of persistance, and they eventually get the idea? Opinions please! Thanks, Amy.
Larkspurs
Eventually they'll get the idea although I've heard of some girls persistently roosting wrong. (Say that after a glass or two!). Nothing to really worry about but as you know chickens are designed to clamp around branches/twigs hence the bars. They'll learn. They're probably just unpracticed. Ain't Nobody Here
Hello Amy and welcome to the forum . I'm sure your girls will get the hang of it soon and even if they don't, it's nothing to worry about. They must be happy there or they wouldn't do it! BarbaraJ
My 2 have just gone into their new Cube and every night when i go to shut the door i have to turf Ruby off the nesting area to put her on the roosting bars but she stays there as the nesting area is poop free so i'm hoping she will eventually get the hint
