Old Speckled Hen
Can somebody help with what is probably a really daft question My chooks are presently in a Flytesofancy wooden coop. I am saving for a What is the ventilation like ... I mean particularly coping with four wet chooks at bed time ....It rains a lot here. In the wooden coop they might go in wet but always come out toasty warm and dry in the mornings. I just had visions of steaming chickens in a plastic house. I'm sure that's not what happens and I really want a (and more ) but it does rain and rain and rain here. Any advice Thanks
Patricia W
Can't answer for a Cube, but my wet chickens are warm, cosy and dry in a plastic eglu. I can't get them up when it's cold! Tricia
Milly
We have had a lot of rain here too (ever since I got my first hens ) - and no matter how wet they are when they go in, the hens always come out of the cube dry in the morning. It's quite well ventilated, so I don't think it gets steamy. Milly
Plum
Plenty of ventilation but I've not tried putting them away wet. I have never found any damp or condensation in the cube except the newpaper in the poo tray is wet under the poo which is to be expected. Guest
Hi I asked the same question last week when i placed my long awaited order for a spoke to James. I was also worried about them being too hot if its a really still day in those really hot summers that we always have I was told that they spend most of the day outside anyway.?????? I know it is double skinned and does have ventilation holes in it. I had a brill forsham in the past and I think the wood just absorbs the water anyhow... But the forsham rotted and despite preservatives when the wood was wet it became heavier to move too(I would still recommend this make though,,well built) But for these reasons thats why i am going plastic Omlet(cleaning/reduce mites etc)The rats knawed the wood quite badly too(I had big holes in the base ) Good question indie
