Single hen

Just want to check that our chickens are behaving normally. We've only had them for a day. They came out of the Eglu this morning, had a bit to eat and drink then after about 10 mins all 3 went back inside. They have only re-appeared 3 times when my husband has been out to chekck on them, going back inside the Eglu when he goes. Is this normal as they settle in? They seem fine and not nervous when they appear, I'm just worried that they are unhappy.

yes, for the first week they tend to spend quite a lot of time inside the eglu. All perfectly normal. They will eventually get the courage to wander further away from their new home once they have settled in.

That's fine, as Chelsea has said; they will venture further when they are more confident.

Yes this is normal, that is why they are called chickens.

Don't worry, in a couple of weeks they'll be tripping you up to get at whatever treat you are bringing them, the nervousness soon wears off
