xsoggyx
I have just had to isolate one of the chooks as she has been pecked and there is blodd showing around a 1" square patch. What home remedy can I use to disguise the blood so she does not get pecked anymore whilst it heals?
Egluntyne
Have you got some gentian violet spray? If not, can you nip out to your nearest equestrian or agricultural type shop?
xsoggyx
I have no way of getting out today. Is there somethng I can mix up at home as a qucik fix? Thank you anyway for your reply.
theherd123
A home remedy doesnt spring to mind so it would be best to separate that chook until you can get some gentian violet spray and the sore area has had some time to heal. Do hope chookie feels better soon.
missuscluck
Apparently mustard I am in a similar situation. I now have some genetian violet spray and they are sporting purple bums now but I have it on good authority that a spot of mustard spread over the affected area stops the pecking pronto. xsoggyx
I washed off as much blood as possible and put her in a cat box in the shed over night. This monrining seeing the advice for disinfectant a used some diluted Detol and bathed the wound. I have let her round around for about an hour on her own and have just introduced the other 5 back into the garden. As the wound is now white and smelly they appear to be leaving her alone. Thanks all for looking and advice. (Appologies for any bad spelllllling)

craftyhunnypie
I always use Vetsyme vetinery ointment to treat any pecking / feather plucking. It has been very useful during the moult, when the others wanted to peck at the new quills coming through. It's a yucky green ointment - but fantastic! ted
Horseshoe The 402 Bath Rd, Slough, SL1 6JA Is a horsey shop I found on t'interweb... I know you have ordered it from elsewhere but the horsey shops are good for all sorts of stuff for chickens. Mine can order in pellets etc . Might be worth a visit to see what they have or can do? Cheers
