Redwing
ok, stick with me on this.... I am still trying to get it straight in my own head.. I am thinking of what I can do with my Eglu run when the WIR is built as I would like to keep hold of it. A guinea pig Eglu has one section of run and a small door panel right? I am thinking if I buy one of the small door panels I can use the first section of run attached to an Eglu if I only needed to house something small (like chicks/broody etc..) and I could detach the second section of run and converter and use the small door panel on the smaller end to make a self contained moveable run (with a door at each end) which can be placed over a veg bed and would serve as a day run for a couple of ground clearance expert hens (with a shade of course) Does that make any sense and does anyone know if it seems sensible? Falkor
I understand you Tasha! I think it sounds very sensible and clever! I enquired about the small door panel so I could halve my standard run and use as a poss sick bay etc and I think Omlet said £19ish (don`t quote me I have slept since the phone call) You could market your veg bed run as an Eco friendly weeding and rotavating garden service Get the chooks little business cards with one of those flashy silver cases and your are away! Olly
Great idea, but is the door panel going to fit ... won't one end of the run be bigger than the other? I'd love to know if not, as I'd like to do this with my spare Eglu run too!
Redwing
One end will be smaller than the other yes. The door panels are different sizes though so this should still work (*crosses fingers*)
Ain't Nobody Here
I was just thinking this very day "what shall I do with my eglu run " . I was contemplating adding mine to the stable door opening of my WIR to give them extra (foxproof) freeranging space. Trouble is, it would get in the way of our access to the eglu . It's a work in progress . I think your idea sounds excellent. Totally flexible and movable rotivating machine - very useful .
Olly
gosh, that is brilliant - I'd never realised that about the guinea-pig door panel. I wish I'd known! I bought a second-hand Eglu run to introduce a new chicken in January, and I had to wire the open end on to the side of the Cube which then made a really awkward structure! I am going to keep the Eglu run when I get my WIR, and another door would make it much more useful for intros/quarantine. Thanks for this! *scurries off to Omlet shop for research*
