Sheilaz
Andrew, I'd been racking my brains trying to think of a special treat or present for Shep's birthday (a milestone one ) next month. Then, I read your posts about Burgh Island, which I had heard of but forgotten about, and have booked 2 nights there for us. I'm so thrilled, it's just the ticket! I was getting really worried that I couldn't think of anything, so thanks so much. I would have replied on the topic, but I think it was one about a completely different subject. Thanks a million for the idea.

Popcorn
Sheila - can you post the details please. I think I've seen it advertised and was telling my brother about it..or at least I was trying to, as I had forgotten where it was and what it involved exactly.... Popcorn
Oh dear....I have got my wires well and truely crossed here! I was thinking of something entirely different....and I hope Sheila will see the funny side when I say that I thought she was talking about the place in Wales where you can take your doggies on an adventure holiday in the welsh valley's, with top doggy accomodation. It was the word Shep that did it...and now I realise who Shep is, I'm very Thank you though Richard..... *runs away with head in hands*
Richard T
I thought I'd try a google for dog adventure holidays in Wales. It came up with "The Woof Guide" http://www.thewoofguide.co.uk/ Richard T PS I wonder if I tried googling for "seabird holidays" whether it would come up with "The Lonely Gannet"? PPS or pubs named after Beatles songs - "The Michelle Inn Guide"?

Yes, thought I'd book a really expensive romantic w/e away for me & the dog! OH is called Shep (nickname since junior school) but sometimes wishes he wasn't, esp. when John Noakes said "Down Shep!" and everyone thought it was funny to say to him. But, I loved your post, Gina. Thinking about it, I really wanted a treat that Shep would enjoy, but this way, I get to have a great time too! ...and Esther, she'll be joining in the adventure! I was going to book for all 6 of us, but decided that it wouldn't be so relaxing. Just us two and "Boots". Can't wait!

One Man Banned
hello! Well I'm back and did just find the topic - Sheila I am so pleased, you'll have a wonderful time! I took Joe for his 30th and apparently he's thinking of taking me for mine. It was all a suprise to him that we were going. Everybody else knew that it was happening (I planned it for a whole year) and he thought that we were just going away somewhere nice for a week in the caravan....and all the deception nearly drove me mad! I told him two days before we went away so he had some time for it to sink in. Lots of tears were involved, for me moreso as he was so happy and at least I wasn't carrying this secret around with me. Funny thing was I even had to spend £200 getting the caravan serviced before we went just to make it look genuine!
Sheilaz
It's hard keeping such an exciting thing a secret, and there's a whole month to go! I can't even tell Esther because then she'll be too excited & either tell him or burst. I'm planning to just tell him to pack a weekend bag but include a suit & tie. That's hard, he'll want to know why. But then, we'll just drive off on a mystery tour. Even when we're nearer & he knows it must be Devon or Cornwall, he won't know the exact location until we arrive! Unless I left the letter of confirmation lying around. Oh, I do hope he didn't see it. Anyway, thanks for the idea Andrew.
One Man Banned
I had to buy Joe a Tuxedo to go with - all I had was one of his suits and a guy in the shop that was the similar size! He couldn't know why I needed to buy a tux or he'd guess something was up!
Popcorn
Surprises are just brilliant. I hope you have a lovely time Sheila. Please leave the dog at home though I took Darren to Edinburgh for a week for his 30th. He knew nothing about it at all. I packed his case and got it into the boot of the car without him seeing. I then got him up at 4am to get to the airport. He still had no idea where we were going. When we got on the plane, I let him open one present - which was the Timeout guide to Edinburgh. I really enjoyed surprising him and we had a fab week.
