Just a quick question, Ellie went out with the girls yesterday and came running back into the house shouting that the run was 'full of blue poo'. The girls are eating, chatting, pecking and Margot is still laying, so I have put it down to the red cabbage in the mixed leaves salad they had for tea the day before. Do I need to worry?

I would put it down to the cabbage too. When I read the title my first thought was wax crayons but thats toddlers not chickens

Red cabbage definitely produces blue poo. We've had a lot of red cabbage in the veg box over the winter so ours have regularly decorated the lawn with blue! What surprised me was that the poo was blue within about 4 hours of them eating the cabbage

Yes I had the same surprise after feeding organic veg box excess.Red cabbage must be cheap and easy to grow.

At least it made poo collecting in the snow much easier!

Yup, mine get the red cabbage from my Abel and Cole box, I get the blue poo!

Many thanks for the replies. The poo is normal once again. Quick update on the rest of the flock, Clucky and Kylie are 'squatting' now, so I don't think it will be long before I'm getting a few more eggs. Can't wait!
