Single hen

Nugget will have been laying a week tomorrow and on Thursday and today laid 80gram eggs both of which have had two yolks in.

 

Is this ok? Is there something I am doing thats causing it? Is it just something that happens and doesnt cause any problem at all and happens a lot?

 

Just wondered as dont want to be missing any signs.

Double yolkers - yummy! It is quite normal for a hen newly laying to lay some doubles, also older hens at this time of year, their output seems to hit a peak so you may get some whoppers

We have had some enormous ones the last week 92g from our Gingernut - my OH's eyes were watering as he looked at it!

 

Interesting that it is to do with the time of year.

 

Unfortunately no double yolkers so far...

Lucky you! We haven't had a double yolker in months.
