We still have no knews on who did this. But its been great knowing that there are so many people out there who care about this. Its been a hard day for us and the garden seems so empty without the chooks.I havnt cleaned out tho pod yet. Not quite ready yet. We have plans though and thats positive.

Love to you all.

So sorry little jerry, I can't get out of my head how scared the girls must have been (Animals being frightened is one of my biggest hates in this yobbish society - it upsets me hugely). Glad the police are taking it seriously.

Lots of love to you all x

Hi,

I'm the person Claret was referring to, we had a chicken taken and killed by a yob of a schoolboy playing truant. Although the culprit was identified (and very much known to the police) there was not enough evidence to prosecute, even with the involvement of the RSPCA.

We still miss Momo every day but we have a rose planted for her and two more girls who have their own character and are laying regularly now.

Do take some time thinking about what you want to do now...

We've moved the girls closer to the house and I have put anti climb paint (with warning messages) all around the inside of the top or our fence.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to you...

Just coming back to this thread to let anyone who doesn't know about prikka strips. They're only any good of course if you have a fully enclosed garden, but if you do they are very good. We primarily got ours to help deter cats/foxes, but they are also useful anti theft devices. You do have to display a warning sign. They are strips of plastic covered with plastic cones, which would be very uncomfortable to walk/stand/get a grip on. Next doors cat tentatively touched one and hasn't been back since. He wasn't injured at all, but I suspect a human being with all that extra weight might well end up with an injury. I certainly sllep better knowing that my side gate is protected (it's the only direct access to our back garden  )
