wombatally
I have a dozen fertile eggs in the incubator and they are due today. The first one pipped last night and appears to have oneto sleep as nothing new this morning. Fingers crossed for lots of fluffy bundles of Orpington, Dorking and L Sussex today!! I have ramped the humidity up to 55 - if anyone else has hatched recently could you advise if this is okay. Thanks Alison
feemcg
When I fill the 2nd trough on my Brinsea it takes the humid up to about 65% and sits quite stable at that till hatch.
debbie26pet
hi i was advised to try get the humadity up to 85 ish
feemcg
My humid sits at about 65 until they start hatching, then can go up to 75-80 after they start hatching because the chicks are wet. It then fluctuates as the chicks dry out, and another one hatches. If you are sitting at a humid of 80 before they start hatching then it will go higher when they start hatching and could be detrimental to the other unhatched chicks (they can 'drown' in the shell if humid too high). If it's sitting at 65 for pipping I wouldn't try and alter anything until all the chicks are out.
wombatally
Thanks for the advice. Three have now pipped and there is a lot of cheeping going on in there. I'm watching through the window
Jules.
Exciting! I have 22 light sussex due to hatch on 18th April. The breeder told me to aim for the "steamy bathroom" effect in the incubator from day 18 onwards, & also to turn down the temperature slightly to about 37 degrees. Have you any photos? Griffin
I wouldn't be in a hurry to increase humidity too much until the majority have pipped because you risk drowning the ones who haven't. I can't get my Corti much above 60% anyway.
