Daphne
We have acquired a cockeral, but not sure if he will be staying (noisy). Just in case we have to get rid of him I'm thinking of getting an incubator to hatch rather than waiting for the offchance of somebody going broody. I want something smallish but bigger than an RCom3 and with auto turning. Does anybody have any recommendations/horror stories? thanks, Daph

Griffin
I've got a Corti 25 automatic. I've used it twice and I'm fairly happy with it. 6/18 eggs hatched the first time. 6 were clear (all from the same seller on Ebay) so 50% of the other 12 hatched, and considering it was the end of January and they'd been through the post I'd say that was a good result. I experimented the next time by setting it with a higher level of humidity but lost quite a few late on and I blame the humidity for that so will go back to incubating dry next time. 5/12 at my second attempt and this was with eggs I'd collected in person from somebody. I find with the Corti it holds it temperature well, increasing humidity is easy, and it's reasonably priced. What I don't like is how noisy it is and how difficult it is to see the chicks hatching. nutterly_uts
same as griffin in terms of use and rough hatchability. My biggest complaint is the visability of hatching, other wise i like it, and holds decent numbers (24 hen eggs in mine at the moment)
