Lovely birds, is the pekin cockeral very loud? I'd love a boy - they are so gorgeous. Although I have seen a cockeral who has no voice  but I don't think his owners would part with him.

How strange, a cockeral with no voice

He hasn't been loud so far, I'll let you know, if things change. he is amazing the photo's don't do him justice.

can't wait for tomorrow.

Yes it was the domestic wild fowl trust, with rare bread joined to it.

Nice place but we didn't get to go all the way around, we got there quite late. i would love to go back. My boys enjoyed the ride on tractors and playground.

What beautiful chooks...and lovely family too!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to dress small people in similar clothes on outings...I have a DS and DD, but when they were little, she had very little hair so looked like a boy & they are like peas in a pod. I used to dress them the same (eg navy shorts/trousers/jeans with navy & white striped tshirt & matching fleeces) so that should the worst happen & one disappeared I could say, "he/she looks like this one but taller/shorter". Thankfully it never happened!! Not sure I'd get away with it at 9 & 12 though!

Thank you, Yes it can be quite useful dressing small the same on outings, they can be easier to spot in crowded play grounds however if one of yours is doing something you'd rather they didn't, you can't pretend they don't belong to you

Well he does crow ! I woke up naturally b4 sunrise, probably excitement. The sun had risen and at about 6.30 my husband said 'can you hear something ?' We are in the back bedroom with double glazing. i could hear a slight noise. i got up and opened the window then i could hear clear crowing but sounded distance, it was no louder than the wild bird noises. i let them all out at 7.30. my big girls were probably pleased as i don't normally let them out till 8-8.30.

The crowing was louder out the eglu, but still not as load as the cockerals yesterday.

I let my big girls free range last thing and they were very interested with new girls. is it ok to do this or should i keep them all out of site at the moment ?

I am sooooooooo jealous - I have lavender pekin girls and used to have a cuckoo pekin cockeral till Foxy had him, and can honestly say that they aren't as loud as most others. The other thing about them, is being short and stumpy, if they take a dislike to someone, like ours did with my little boy, they are fairly easy fend off.

I would certainly be interested if you wanted to sell any eggs/offspring.

All the best with your feathered family.
