Green/chicken related wedding ideas

Recommended Posts

Yay! Congrats!

How about getting a friend to do a cupcake cake? Or use the hen night to have a domestic evening baking cupcakes and making favours? How about asking local student photography classes if anyone would do pics for cheaper?

We're running away to get married. There are some nice links to cheaper dresses on the other thread I started about weddings.

I have been banned from having chicken ringbearers. :(

I had dried flowers as my bouquet etc & grew most of them in a tiny patch in my garden!

Most expensive part was the marquee as we got married in April & couldn't guarantee good weather, but wanted it all at home. I wish I'd been involved with the scouts then, it would have been sooooo much cheaper!! I got friends from catering college and work to organise the food & paid them expenses, but did most of the prep myself - boy was I exhausted!

How about sending the seeds out with the wedding invites & asking people to grow them ahead of the wedding & bring on the day - love the idea of having them all tied together just before the ceremony & carrying them down the aisle. Some could be planted in pots & dotted around the venue.

I think I need a party so I can try out some of these ideas - perfect opportunity in 20 months I shall be 40 & DH will be 60 the following December, so split in the middle is a summer party for "significant non-birthday parties" . The last time we did this was our 30/50 do, it's immortalised on Google Earth, as that was the only time we had a green & white stripy marquee in our garden and a bouncy castle :? do they not update GE?

I think maybe a practise party may be in order before then though :D

Congratulations on your happy news, and I hope all the plans go smoothly,

Congratulations Karen! And another local Omleteer, how exciting.

We got married a couple of weeks ago at Cooling Castle Barn. Not cheap, but they did exactly what we wanted and kept the day informal for us. As it was Easter, we gave mini-eggs as favours. Spring would be wonderful for flowers - a huge bunch of daffs or tulips would cost very little.

To incorporate the chooks instead of the usual big card table plan we had a free-standing tree and hung egg shapes from it, one for each table, with the names on. Wish I could have done more chickeny stuff but work got really busy in the run-up to the day so I didn't have time :(

Whatever happens you'll have an amazing day - just make sure its how you and OH want it, don't let anyone interfere!
