And as you can see, Poppy is much bigger at that age and I'm now sure Poppy is infact a boy

Thank you MadMitch and Griffin. I pick up my girls on 3/5/09 and just needed to see if they are fully feathered, as I will be putting them straight in the cube, the weather has warmed up here nicely (I hope it lasts ) It has been advised that I remove the roosting bars from the cube, is there a specific reason for doing so? Also MadMitch, are the girls able to handle the ladder or are there some special adjustments that need to be made?

OH rescued some 8 week old chicks from work (he works with chickens) and we put them straight into the eglu in the middle of that really cold snap we had (with snow) and they were fine.

Thanks for that Chelsea, I had visions of trying to keep 8wk olds in my tiny cottage, and I'm not too keen on sharing my limited space, although I would if need be.

I removed my roosting bars as I was told that if they roost at too young an age then it distorts their breast bone.

None of my chooks coped well with the ladder (and still don't) so I made a ramp for them to walk up.

I remove the bars from the eglu and they sleep on straw from 3-8 weeks........I put them back in at 8 weeks though. They perch themselves before 8 weeks on the edge of feeders, drinkers etc.
