Well after much deliberation I have done it...

 

I have ordered a brand new shiny

It will be delivered all the way to Arran (not too pricey delivery either )

 

Gwen from Omlet says it will be here is roughly 3 1/2 wks (would have loved sooner).

 

Been speaking to a breeder/keeper on the island (flock of 150!) who has got ISA Browns, White Stars and a couple of silkies (which have gone broody).

 

Will probably get a couple of ISAs from her and try to hunt down not literally) a silkie for wee Angus.

 

She has recommended a video/dvd called Poultry at Home by Victoria Roberts - anybody heard of it, is it any good? Anyone have a spare copy??

 

Heres hoping - in 4 weeks we should have wee chooks!

as for taking the day off.. oh yes that's all in hand..WFH can be very handy.. may not be the case when the chucks arrive.. I'll be spending all day in the garden playing with the girls won't be missing the grand arrival for anything

ooh grand news on the eglu well done Angus you have just taken your first step to being chicken crazed lol i have 2 white star babies they are supposed to be very flighty birds which they might be later on but so far they have been lovely no pecking and lovely peeping noise being only 11 weeks old i find my hylines love the taste of human flesh and chase us round garden trying to eat us so probably not best bet for a 4 yr old
