I'm having my yearly free birthday present from my husband at the moment.

 

He's whatever jobs I want in the garden without moaning My hands don't allow me to do much gardening, so I find it really frustrating, but once a year I can get him to do all the things I want to do myself!

 

Does anyone else do anything like this?

Sort of.... I sked Phil what he wanted for his 50th and he said that all he wanted was for me to take a day off work to spend with him.... we went out for the day, just the two of us.

That's lovely. It's often the free things which are the most precious and hardest to get people to give.

It's very rare for just the two of us to be together - we don't live together and i usually have Rosie with me, but this was a day that she was at school.

Before we had the little bloke, we always used to take a days holiday on my birthday and go to Alton Towers for the day and act like big kids.

 

I got my best birthday present on my 36th though - my son!

Happy to report that the present has gone extremely well Most of my borders are completely weed free and a dying bush is now in pieces on the lawn. The front hedge has sort of been cut, the patio has been weeded and swept. Yay.

Mine rarely gets to watch the football in peace so I gave him a voucher for an afternoons uninterrupted footie watching complete with waitress service beer. That went down very well

This sounds like a really good idea. We don't really do birthday presents for each other as we share the same birthday and tend to do something like go out for lunch. Great as we only have to pay half to treat each other to a birthday lunch!
