4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I gave my two welsummers about 2 inches of a corn cob earlier and they attacked it and stripped it clean within an hour. They are only 6-7 weeks old and haven't really touched anything we've tried to give them (brocolli/raisons) but the cob went down well.

 

Is it a bad thing to give them a bit of cob every now and then? Is there anything else I can try them on. I'm desperately trying to tame them.

I was advised not to give my chicks treats yet and they are 10 weeks. i'm waiting till 12 weeks.

My girls are around 21 weeks and just started laying. I hang corn on the cob with string from the top of their run, they have great fun with it swinging from side to side and keeps them entertained for hours stripping it like a piranha (hope its spelt right) By the time they've finished there is absolutely nothing left on it at all. Three very satisfied young ladies

 

Does anybody know how often I can give them this treat as they love it and its great fun to watch

Can't help with when it's safe to give to chooks that age, but definately like the idea of hanging it up....that might last more than 12 seconds in our chicken run!!

My girls are all 'grown ups', but they love to peck at a cabbage or sweetcorn cob when it's hanging up in the run, they play 'swingball' with it!

I dont know for certain but when I got my 8 week old cochins, the man at the breeder centre told me they were too young at that age for treats. He said only to give them their food which is rich in the right things to make them grow

I agree with some of the replies. I would maybe lay off the treats until they are at POL. You will see a remarked difference in eating when they start laying - they eat loads.
