Hen Huggers R Us
Our chucks have layed in the nesting box of their coop from the very start (12 months now), so why over the last 3 to 4 weeks have they decided to lay in the opposite corner of the coop, on the floor in the sawdust, we also find the eggs buried in the sawdust, they are still laying fine but in a different place , any explanations anyone. Redwing
Mites or lce can make them avoid the nestbox as when they are laying they are sitting targets as such - could it be that?
Ain't Nobody Here
That's what sprung to my mind too .
Patricia W
After a winter break in laying, ours just decided they'd lay in the garden! As they are consistent with where the (beautiful) nest is, we let them get on with it. The fact that is in the MOST inaccessible part of the garden and requires me to crawl over brambles is just a trifle inconvenient... poppy33
We thought our sussex had stopped laying last summer, then we found 15 eggs all secretly hidden in a very elaborate nest, she likes to keep us amused with her hunt the eggs game and regularly changes to new positions around the garden
