4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I already have apple cider vinegar (OH read that it can help stop baldness ) so how much do I use? I have a glug for their water.

 

I don't have Chicken spice and Red Mite Powder.

 

Do I need to get these?, and if so how much do I need to use?

I have a brand new cube so wouldn't have thought Red Mites would be a problem?

I just slosh a bit of apple cider vinegar in the glug, i suppose its about a tablespoon full. Poultry spice is useful when the chickens are moulting or to give them a bit of a boost at other times. I use red mite powder in my eglu and in the dust bath. I've not seen red mites, but have had lice and it can help with them as well.

Both red mites and poultry lice are transmitted by wild birds, so there's a chance you could get them even in new housing. Prevention is the best bet and as Claire has said add Diatom or red mite powder to the dustbath and nest box.

I bought some Apple Cider Vinegar but I bought the supermarket one (thought this was oke) I havent given them any as was afraid to do so. As yet I havent managed to find any other sort. Can I give them this or should I order some over the internet. I looked at Omlets one and it just says Organic (looks like supermarket item).

The best ACV is the live version that you can get from horse feed suppliers. I use one by Crossgates Bioenergetics and I get it from Cotswold Chickens.

 

One word of advice though - don't use it in metal drinkers unless they are stainless steel.
